🚢 What is a Container Release (EIR)?
Container release (EIR) allows trucks to pick up containers from the terminal. If there’s an issue, the container cannot be released — even with a valid booking.
⚠️ Common Reasons for EIR Issues
- Booking not authorized. The carrier hasn’t opened release yet — often due to space control.
- Missing vessel information. No vessel = no release. Check if your shipping order is updated.
- EDI / system error. Booking data not synced properly. The carrier may need to resend it.
- No containers available. Equipment shortage is common. Alternatives may be possible.
- Not within release time. Release window hasn’t opened due to schedule changes.
🚨 What Happens Next?
Even after release, issues can still occur:
Wrong pickup location
Missing special remarks
Container not available on-site
💡 How to Avoid Delays
Double-check booking details
Confirm vessel info early
Monitor container availability
Stay in close contact with your forwarder
📌 Final Note
Most container release issues are small — but can delay your shipment significantly if not handled early.
